THE EASI MODEL & TOOLKIT
Game for Science
Sep 2022 - Jun 2023
Project Overview
The EASI toolkit is built on the basis of the EASI model, which is a motivation-based typology for citizen science games with four player types. By utilizing the toolkit, designers and developers can better understand the roles and needs of different players so that game elements can be tailored for diverse players.

Personal project
Responsible for the whole design & research process
Developing citizen science games requires the combined efforts of different stakeholders and the expertise of different disciplines. However, there is currently a lack of an actionable approach to assist in the collaborative process of designing citizen science games. We propose the EASI toolkit, an interactive tool that can help citizen science game practitioners understand game design knowledge, build consensus during collaboration, and tailor game experiences for different players.
The EASI Toolkit is:
- An interactive toolkit that supports both learning and ideation goals
- An adaptable toolkit that facilitates collaboration between designers and non-designers
- A modular toolkit that can be flexibly changed according to usage scenarios
